SASSA Gold Card to Black Card Switch - Last Chance Before December 2026


SASSA Gold Cards will STOP working in December 2026. If you still use Gold Card, you must switch to Postbank Black Card now or you will not get your October and November payments.


Deadline: December 2026 - After this Gold Card will be declined at Shoprite, ATMs and Checkers.


How to Get Postbank Black Card?


1. Go to your nearest Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay or Boxer with your ID

2. Tell them "I want to switch SASSA Gold to Black Card"

3. They will give you Black Card for FREE

4. Your PIN stays same, money stays same


Documents Needed: South African ID and your Gold Card


What If You Miss Deadline?


Your grant money will still be in your account but Gold Card will not work to withdraw. You will need to go to Postbank or use bank account. So switch now.


Can I Use Bank Account Instead of Black Card?


Yes. Best option: Change your SASSA payment to your Capitec or FNB bank account on srd.sassa.gov.za > Change Banking Details. Then you don't need any card.
