Why SASSA says Alternative Income Source Identified


SASSA checks your bank account every month. If they see more than R624 coming IN, they decline you.


Even if it is not salary. These count as income:

- R700 eWallet from family

- R800 from boyfriend / girlfriend

- Stokvel payout

- Money from selling clothes or hair

- Loan from friend


How to appeal your SRD R370 declined status


Step 1: Go to srd.sassa.gov.za

Step 2: Click Check Reconsideration Status

Step 3: Click Apply for Reconsideration

Step 4: Enter your ID number and phone number

Step 5: Choose the month that was declined

Step 6: Submit


You must appeal within 30 days of being declined. Do it before 30 September 2026 for September.


What to do before you appeal to get approved


- Make sure your bank balance is below R624 before appeal

- Do not receive eWallet or large transfers in that month

- If you use Capitec, Standard Bank, ABSA, FNB - check your statement

- Ask family to send cash, not eWallet


When will appeal be paid?


If approved, SASSA pays you within 7 to 14 days after appeal approval. You will see PAYDAY on srd.sassa.gov.za status check.
